Project Impact, together with Seva Foundation, has sent an initial contribution of $30,000 to support sister organization Impact UK?s concentrated relief efforts in Sri Lanka. Impact UK is providing direct funding to IMPACT Sri Lanka, a registered NGO. When disaster struck the country, IMPACT Sri Lanka immediately set up five 'camps' in the worst affected regions of Hambantota, Matara, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee where most of the hospitals and health centers and their contents have been destroyed or washed away. Since then, more health camps have been established in other areas and in refugee camps using IMPACT's Mobile Unit.
The most desperate need is for funds to purchase medicines, drugs, wound dressings, dehydrating salts, and vaccines. Impact UK is purchasing these supplies in India, reducing the costs to a fifth of what would be paid to make the purchases in Sri Lanka. If you would like to contribute to this continued effort, please make a contribution to Project Impact. All funds will be wired directly to Impact UK to purchase and deliver the desperately needed items to the Sri Lankan people. All of Project Impact and Impact UK?s administrative costs are covered by separate grants, so every penny of any donation made goes directly to the people who need it.
Project Impact?s address for sending disaster relief donations is as follows:
- Project Impact
1782 Fifth Street
Berkeley, CA 94710
- att: Tsunami Relief
Thank you very much for your consideration. The relief efforts must continue far into the future, and any donation is greatly appreciated by the entire Impact family.
